As a member of the local community and a retired head teacher, I want to support and challenge Cobden to continually improve and deliver the best possible education for the children. I have had links with Cobden ever since Mrs. Head joined the school. She was my deputy!  I have always enjoyed supporting the school in any way I can.  I particularly enjoy interacting with the children.  As an ex-headteacher, I have been involved in supporting children and  teachers in school, visiting school council, forging links between governors and children, playing the piano for singing practices and the Christmas sing-along and generally being "visible" around school. I think the staff and children at Cobden are fantastic.  There is a wonderful atmosphere around school and everyone is pulling in the same direction. Parents are an important part of that too. I went into teaching over thirty years ago because I wanted to make a positive difference to children's life chances.  Now that I am retired, I see my work as a governor as a voluntary continuation of that idea.
