In June 2016, all children in KS1 and KS2 had the opportunity to learn how to ride their scooters safely. Year 1 and Year 2 spent time on the playground and practised scooting around cones and other obstacles.
Children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 went out on the roads to learn how to safely ride on the pavement, manoeuvre around parked cars and wheelie bins before crossing the roads in the best way.
Everyone had a great time and hopefully we will all be safe on our scooters now!
In October, Year 6 children had the opportunity to complete Level 1 and Level 2 Bikeability training. This training, by Cycle Leeds, aims to give children the necessary skills to be safe on the roads.
In August 2015, we were informed that we had been awarded the Silver Modeshift Stars Award for the third year running! This is an amazing achievement and we are one of only a few schools in Leeds to have reached this level for three consecutive years. Although we only just missed out on the Gold Award, we have lots of things planned for 2015-2016 to try and achieve it by next summer.
How can you help us to reach our goal and get the top award? If you have some good ideas of some projects we can do to keep ourselves safe on the roads or to promote sustainable travel, please come and see Miss Caine.
Some pupils in Year 3 and Year 4 had the opportunity to learn some really important bike riding skills that will keep them safe on the road.
They all had a fantastic time!
In December 2014, we were awarded with the Silver Modeshift Stars Award for the second year running meaning we are one of the best schools in the city at promoting safe and sustainable travel at school.
