Week Beginning 9th May

This week we have had some special visitors arrive in nursery.....our caterpillars! The children were very excited to look at them and many predicted that they would turn into butterflies. We are really looking forward to watching them grow and change over the next few weeks! To continue our learning on caterpillars we have been reading the story of the very hungry caterpillar, the children helped to count the food in the book and joined in with the repeated parts of the text. We have also been printing caterpillars in our creative area.

Week Beginning 2nd May

This week we have continued our learning on the story of "Jack and the Beanstalk" The children enjoyed making their own beanstalks in the making area so look out for pictures on Tapestry.

We have also been ladybird hunting outside and the children enjoyed making habitats for them with leaves and sticks. We even found some baby ladybirds and looked at them through the magnifying glass!

In maths we have been learning about squares and completed a sorting activity with different shaped objects from around the classroom.

Week Beginning 25th April

This week we have started to look at the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children were really good at joining in with "Fi Fi Fo Fum!" and they knew the names of the characters too. We planted our own beans and are looking forward to watching them grow. I wonder if any of them will grow as big as Jack's?

In maths we have been learning about circles and went on a circle hunt outside. The children were fantastic at finding circles and some even drew their own circles of different sizes. Well done everyone!

Week Beginning 18th April

We have had a super first week back and have welcomed lots of new children to Nursery. I am so proud of how well they have adjusted and settled and it has been lovely to see how much the older children have helped and supported them with our routines.

Thankfully we have had some lovely sunny weather which meant lots of children chose to play outside, Miley and her friends were worm hunting and Nandini and Darcey-Leigh enjoyed painting with the water.

We also had a visit from year 2s class stick insect this week and some children were excited to hold him either on their hand or jumper.

Week Beginning 7th March

We are so pleased to have had some better weather this week and the children have spent lots of time outside without all the mud!

Some children enjoyed planting "trees" in the soil and others worked together to build ramps and obstacle courses to slide down and follow.

We have also had some lovely maths activities throughout this week. I'm really impressed with how the children are willing to take part in activities and share their ideas.
