Mrs D. Porter Vice Chair of Governors | Co-opted Governor |

| Chair of governors at Ingram Road Primary School |
I became a Governor at Cobden after retiring from the post of Assistant Head at a local high school where I was responsible for pupil welfare and safeguarding. I am now retired. I have many years of experience of working in schools as an English teacher, assistant headteacher and a librarian. When I was an assistant head, I worked on a number of joint projects with staff at Cobden and also shared the responsibility of helping and supporting families who had children at both schools. I was delighted to accept the invitation to join the governing body at Cobden because I really admire the ethos of the school and the values that are passed on to pupils. The staff, teachers and non-teaching staff, are very hard working but they are also a lot of fun to work with. I have continued to work at Cobden, eventually taking on the responsibility of being Chair of Governors, mainly because the pupils are such a fantastic bunch of young people. It is always a pleasure to drop by for School Council meetings or work alongside pupils during interviews. They are always enthusiastic, full of bright ideas and incredibly polite; they are a credit to their school and their families. This is what keeps me going when the job gets tough or on the (very rare) occasions when meetings get boring. |
